8 Month Travel Insurance Policies
It is important to ensure that you choose the right type of travel insurance policy for your overseas travel. We were recently approached for 8 months travel insurance, by someone who had inadvertently left the country thinking they were insured on an Annual travel insurance policy provided by their bank. On checking, they noticed that their Annual cover was only for short trips of up to 31 duration, so was not valid for their 8-month round the world holiday.
8-month travel insurance needs to be on a Long Stay policy, which is, unfortunately, a lot more expensive than Annual Multi-Trip cover.
The problem that this person was having, was that they were already abroad at the start of an 8 month trip with no valid travel insurance and most insurers were telling them that they could only start policies prior to departure. It can be difficult to arrange travel insurance after departure, but we can, under certain circumstances, issue cover. It is a condition of insurance started after departure, that claims arising from any situation that is already known about will be excluded, but otherwise, the policy gives normal cover. It has recently become even more difficult to arrange this type of cover, so it is now more important than ever that you check that you are insured before departure and that the policy type that you have purchased is right for the journey that you are undertaking.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, call us on 0161 973 6435 and we will try to offer you cover, but unfortunately, there are many instances where we are unable to help.
If you have not yet left the UK, just select “Long Stay” from the options on the quote form and buy the policy online.
